Verizon Senior Technical Support Engineer in Westlake, Texas

What you’ll be doing...

Senior Technical Support Engineer responsible for implementation, maintenance and on-going support of the Consumer and Enterprise VoIP call processing and voicemail infrastructure elements both in and outside of the cloud environment. The Senior Engineer will act as a technical liaison to the VoIP Engineering, Verizon Planning and Vendor organizations. Develops resolutions to complex problems that require the frequent use of creativity. Analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Other responsibilities include:

  • Develop scripts and programs to leverage automation to eliminate manual processes and provide near real-time visibility into system health and performance.

  • Work in the OpenStack environment on multiple virtual environments.

  • Identify deficiencies and quickly develop a solution in a DevOps manner to help improve the reliability and add operational efficiencies in the Intelligent Edge Network (IEN) network.

  • Embrace agile methodologies and show an aptitude for being able to adapt.

  • Lead the effort to transform the way we do operations by promoting a DevOps mindset.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree.

  • 4+ years of experience in telecommunications, VOIP and TDM.

  • OpenStack experience.

  • BroadSoft experience.

  • Netscout and Wireshark experience.

  • Proficiency in one or more scripting languages (Perl, Python, Shell, Ruby).

  • Experience with automation tools (Ansible, Chef, Puppet).

  • Experience with Linux systems in an enterprise production environment.

  • Experience with SDN/NFV.

  • Knowledge of Network Configuration Protocol (NETCONF) and data modeling language YANG.

  • Experience developing REST based web service.

  • Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP networking, load balancing, firewalls, HTTP, SSL, DNS, DHCP.

  • Ability to quickly analyze situations, identify problems, and provide solutions.

  • Ability to automate backend and frontend test scripts in Python or equivalent scripting language.
