Job Description

As the Access Services Manager, you will manage and evaluate access services operations and staff. You will also ensure efficient and professional services.

Job Responsibilities Include:

  • Manages access services operations, including, but not limited to:

  • Hiring, training, disciplining and supervising staff;

  • Evaluating performance and ensuring appraisals are completed on a timely basis;

  • Assessing and making recommendations to improve the efficiency of current systems/processes for all applicable registration and financial services;

  • Processing payroll, maintaining employee records and work schedules, and ensuring adequate coverage at all times;

  • Maintaining daily workflow in order to expedite processing while ensuring quality care and customer service;

  • Keeping informed of and disseminating all pertinent hospital and departmental policies and procedures, JCAHO, and other regulatory agency standards, and insurance requirements and regulations.

  • Manages the financial aspects including, but not limited to:

  • Working closely with the Patient Accounts department and Health Information Management to ensure effective management of patient cases and accurate billing practices;

  • Assessing the front-end inpatient registration and insurance screens; incorporates financial billing requirements;

  • Integrating system needs and requirements based upon the decentralization of services in conjunction with all appropriate departments;

  • Assisting in the preparation and monitoring of the department budget;

  • Monitoring the daily ED and Outpatient registrations for Quality Assurance;

  • Ensuring compliance and integrity of data with billing and regulatory requirements

  • Assumes responsibilities related to patient access services in the absence of the Director.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required. Knowledge of Hospital Administration or related Healthcare field as normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor's Degree.

  • Minimum of five (5) years experience in a healthcare setting, two of which are in an admitting or business office function. Minimum of one (1) year supervisory experience.

  • Advanced knowledge of related hardware/software, and hospital registration/billing systems, required. SMS INVISION preferred.
