Job Description

Our Sourcing team partner with the business to ensure efficient acquisition of goods and services that enables the commercialization of our medicines, vaccines and Animal Health products. We collaborate internationally and are grouped into center-led categories and regional operating teams.

The Devices and Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) Director of Global Operations Sourcing Procurement – supports the existing Devices and CMO’s of all Franchises. The Director will be actively engaged in providing sourcing solutions during the life cycle of the Products for the CMO’s and will be liaising with External Manufacturing, Supply Chain and other critical functions. In addition she/he will be leading the development and implementation of procurement strategy, Global Category Management, contract management, risk management, stakeholder management, and supplier value management within this category. The incumbent will develop and maintain strong relationships with key leaders and stakeholders, namely Commercialization, External Manufacturing, Quality/Regulatory, Supply Chain, Finance, Legal, and Shared Business Services, and other corporate functions.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Leadership - As a key leader of a category of spend, accountable for development and implementation of robust sourcing strategies that link to core business deliverables while leveraging the marketplace and supplier community. Delivers exemplary results in the right way.

  • Procurement Leadership - Provide the leadership, strategy and policy for the function building a high performance engagement model with the business and regions. Partners with stakeholders outside of Procurement to ensure alignment.

  • Category scope - Direct responsibility for supplier relationships around the world, and is worldwide point of contact for global relationships with numerous key suppliers, which are complex and difficult to manage.

  • Sourcing Management - Utilize/drive sourcing management as a structured process including obtaining sponsorship and creating/leading cross-functional teams. Upon receiving approval for sourcing strategies, oversee/execute sourcing levers (including but not limited to RFx, negotiations, contracting activities) to ensure appropriate sourcing rigor.

  • Strategy Development/Implementation - Create breakthrough strategies which deliver quick wins and generate legitimate business value. Drive innovation.

  • Change Management - Adopt high quality change practices with customers and stakeholders, building and implementing an organization which is sustainable. Be a leader by example and practice, embodying our Company's Leadership Standards. •Continuous Improvement - Ensure that every supplier relationship is established with intent of future continuous improvement, and to lead and manage the measurement and review process to ensure delivery of expectations .

  • Stakeholder Management - Work in a way that positively engages the support of business colleagues using problem solving, transparency, and proactive communication skills. Build sourcing management pipeline, ensuring stakeholder alignment and compliance to supply management processes.

  • Diversity - Actively support diversity, both within our Company as well as expanding relationships and spend with Diverse Suppliers.

  • Business requirements/cost management focus - Must have keen insight and understanding of business requirements on a 1/3/5 year horizon, and partners Global Procurement (GP) and business peers to drive cost reductions. Implement Supplier Value Management with the key suppliers in this category to foster innovation, manage supplier performance, establish appropriate governance model, and ensure continuous improvement

Education Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS degree required

  • Technical degrees such as engineering, chemistry, biology and business administration as an additional degree preferred

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum of ten years experience in the Pharma Industry

  • Minimum five years experience in Direct Materials Procurement or External Manufacturing or Supply Chain Management

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Preference in strong technical skills and understanding of process development needs and challenges, understanding the Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) manufacturing environment, various technologies, costing, supply chain and operational management

  • Negotiations, stakeholder management, financial acumen

  • Direct experience in a GMP manufacturing environment and deep understanding of technology complexity vs cost
