Verizon Wireless RF Design Lead in Walnut Creek, California
What you’ll be doing...
As our Radio Frequency (RF) Design Lead for community outreach, you will be responsible for delivering deployable small cell solutions with the best return on investment for Verizon. You’ll work closely with leadership, the Master Lease Agreements (MLA) team and the Real estate team to develop strategies that deliver win-win strategies for small cell deployment. As the RF lead for community outreach you will deliver key presentations to stakeholders, and easily articulate our technology and its benefits. You will also develop and present data and maps to justify the proposed RF designs.
Working closely with internal and external stakeholders to negotiate small cell designs with the best ROI.
Creating alternative analysis packages, justification packages and story boards leveraging Atoll plots, Maps and trends using internal tools to gain approvals for the designs.
Aligning small cell strategies to stay ahead of the capacity demand given the delivery of solutions in the pipeline.
Staying up to speed on Verizon’s spectrum holdings and 5G strategy.
Staying aware of the small cell designs used by our competitors.
Project managing all deliverables to ensure support is provided in the allocated time.
Working with city planners and architects to develop acceptable small cell development strategies. Explaining technology in layman’s terms and its benefits to communities.
Partnering with Permit Consultants & MLA negotiators to represent RF at outreach programs that educate communities of wireless facilities and small cells, emphasizing benefits to their community.
Working with in-house legal, outside counsel, governmental affairs, and other team members, to support streamlining the zoning and permitting process for small cells with the jurisdictions and municipalities through wireless code revisions that are consistent with State Legislative efforts.
Attending community meetings, planning commission hearings, architectural review board meetings and council meetings to get approvals for designs.
Keeping Leadership and the RF teams apprised of negotiation efforts.
Working with the responsible RF engineer to deploy small cells fast once agreements are fully executed. Documenting all business terms for each agreement in a database.
Staying up to speed on the radio equipment and its physical characteristics for both 4G and 5G, various antennas for 4G and 5G and all transport requirements at the node for 4G and 5G.
Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with peers, leadership, clients and key contacts within other departments within Verizon Wireless.

You’ll need to have:
Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
Four or more years of relevant work experience
Experience working on an external facing project requiring public speaking.
Even better if you have:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science Engineering or a Master’s degree.
Five or more years of RF Design experience.
Working knowledge of the following tools – Atoll, Fuze, Google Earth, MapInfo, Visio, GSuite.
Knowledge of the Real Estate process in developing new wireless facilities.
Three or more years of project management experience - Demonstrated ability to take initiative and manage multiple competing priorities while consistently meeting deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to analyze and simplify complex issues and influence stakeholders.
