Life Actuarial Manager
EY are looking for a manager to join their expanding actuarial team in Dublin. We currently have an actuarial team of 14 people across life and non-life and we are looking to expand to 25 people by 2020.
EY’s Global Actuarial Services practice, with over 1400 actuarial professionals covering over 150 countries, ranks in the Top 3 actuarial services practices in the world.

EY in Dublin
In Dublin our actuarial team offers a wide range of both life and non-life advisory and audit services. We are currently looking to fill one vacancy in our life actuarial team.
We work closely with the actuarial teams in both the UK and across Europe, and often on multi-service line engagements with our Risk, Assurance and Performance Improvement colleagues.
The range of services offered by EY continues to expand in line with the market, with our actuaries in Dublin providing both advisory and assurance assistance to clients on Solvency II, reinsurance & capital management, financial reporting, ERM, due diligence, market research and strategic or process related reviews. A number of our recent projects are Brexit related and involve complex client management and structuring challenges.
Actuarial Managers are involved in the successful delivery and management of actuarial and multidisciplinary projects, including both the relationship with clients and the performance of the internal EY team.
The successful candidate will be expected to drive the production of client deliverables, with an emphasis on quality and teaming.
They will have a responsibility for assisting with the management and development of more junior colleagues.
They will look to develop a number of areas of technical excellence, participating in the research and development required to support the growth of these fields of expertise. They will be expected to adopt an account management mind-set, identifying client specific needs. They will be able to positively promote the EY strategy, services and values.
They will work across a broad range of projects both as part of the assurance and advisory practices.
The projects they will be working on are particularly focused around:
· Solvency II
· Financial reporting
· Capital and Risk Management
Due to the broad nature of this role, there may also be some exposure to other types of work as opportunities arise. They must be confident and credible in taking the lead in both client interactions and with more junior colleagues. They will look to develop their EY network through working on multi-disciplinary projects across different service lines.
Skills and Experience
· Qualified Actuary, with a minimum of five years professional experience in life insurance, life consultancy or life reinsurance
· Excellent technical and analytical skills
· IT programming experience, e.g. in the form of asset/liability model development
· Awareness of the challenges facing the life insurance industry
· Demonstrated ability in problem solving and managing multiple tasks
Previous experience in the following areas:
Capital and Risk Management
· Previous experience in managing more junior staff and delivering projects
· Capable of working autonomously or with a team
· Excellent communication skills both in written and oral format
· Focus on deadlines, discipline and process, yet flexible and pragmatic
· Professional attitude and demeanour
