Lockheed Martin Shipboard Installation Technician in Virginia Beach, Virginia

Description: Shipboard Installation Technician -

Employee will work in an industrial shipyard environment performing shipboard installation tasks in support of Aegis Weapon System Shipboard Alterations (SA) and Ordnance Alterations (OA). Will be assigned as required with an Alteration Installation Team (AIT) working 40 or more hours per week, as required to meet schedule commitments (overtime).

May spend up to 75 percent of time in a travel status (both domestic and international).

Basic Qualifications:

Experience with shipboard installations including:

- Existing cable rip-out and roll-back [including testing & cable/connector inspection];

- Cable installation (power and data) installation;

- Copper cable/connector termination;

- Opening/Closing Multi-Cable Transits (MCTs);

- Finalizing installations for space turnover to ship’s force (i.e. cable tagging/banding).

Ability to work in a team environment with overall LM Alteration Installation Team (AIT) Leads and Technician Leads directing near term objectives.

Required to obtain a SECRET security clearance.

Ability to complete certification training and renewals, as required.

Desired Skills:

Copper cable termination certifications in accordance with DOD-STD-2003/5.

Fiber Optic cable certifications in accordance with MIL-STD-2042 (inspection), MIL-STD-1678-1, MIL-STD-2042, NAVSEA SI , 009-04, and 009-123 (connector fabrication).

Cableway inspections in accordance with DOD-STD-2003.

OSHA Maritime 10 hr Training Course #7615.

Experience with requirements of NAVSEA TS 9090-301 REV G; Shipyard Competent Person (29 CFR 1915, NFPA 306); ESH 40 CFR Hazardous Waste Management; ESH 49 CFR Hazardous Materials Transportation.
