The Payload Launch Sites Support Services (PLSSS) Program within LM Space provides all launch processing support functions for Office of Space Launch (OSL). One of the program's two primary operating locations is Vandenberg AFB, CA. Key elements of the PLSSS program scope include satellite launch processing, satellite transport operations, satellite propellant loading operations, and satellite processing facilities O&M, clean room operations, and safety and environmental services.
The applicant will perform a variety of electrical engineering design tasks in support of the Payload Launch Site Support Services (PLSSS) contract at Vandenberg AFB. The applicant will support Operations at factory locations and respective launch sites (Vandenberg Air Force Base, CA or Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, FL). The applicant will design, operate, maintain electrical systems to support spacecraft transportation. Personnel must be able to work in a launch site environment with the ability to climb stairs and evacuate the launch complex wearing breathing apparatus if required. Applicant must be willing to travel and to work overtime and odd shifts if required.
The applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
Desired Skills: -Basic knowledge of C/C++ and C#
-Basic knowledge of Linux (Fedora, RedHat and Debian) and Windows (10+)
-Working knowledge of RF and electrical engineering design principles to include Nyquist theorem, DSP, FIR filtering, Hilbert Transform, FFT, power budget, transmission line theory, TE/TM/TEM modes, digital logic gates, Fresnel zone propagation theory, Maxwell's equations, electromagnetic theory
-Practical experience in MATLAB behavioral modeling, PCB layout, hardware simulation in ModelSim and Orcad, VHDL or Verilog, power distribution, fiber optic communication
-Experience working with logic analyzer, spectrum analyzer, signal generator, network analyzer, power meter, optical meter, RF/microwave amplifiers, fiber optic transceiver, and LISN device
-Experience working with Linux in an embedded environment
-Familiar with FPGA platforms, specifically Stratix-10 or Virtex-7
-Working knowledge of RF/antenna engineering specifically S-parameters, VSWR, antenna reciprocity, antenna factor, radiation pattern, gain response, impedance matching, RF link budget, SAR, RF and power shielding methodology, waveguide technology, and antenna characterization
-Working knowledge of MIL-STD 461G, specifically CE102, RE102, CS101, CS103 and CS104
-Experience in evaluation board testing, anechoic chamber testing and shielding effectiveness testing
-Experience in open/closed loop RF testing
-Experience with Antenna boresight testing
-Experience in hardware and RF troubleshooting (both component and system level)
-Familiar with S-Band, L-Band, and C-B and RF networks
-Good organizational skills
-Able to adjust and respond to dynamic working environment
-Experience in authoring technical documents either in a school or in a professional setting
-Experience in a design build environment either in a school or in a professional setting
-Operational experience with high value, one-of-a-kind RF/electrical systems
-Experience with MAXIMO
-Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 5 years of professional experience; or 3 years of professional experience with a related Masters degree; or no experience required with a related PhD or JD. Considered career, or journey, level.
-Good written and oral communication skills
-Able to work both independently and on interdisciplinary project teams
-Experience in presenting technical designs and information either in a school or in a professional setting
-Must be willing/able to travel up to one month per year (potentially 3 weeks at a time)
-Must be willing/able to work overtime and occasional odd shifts
-Able to support multiple projects
-Must be a United States Citizen
-Must be able to obtain a TS/SCI government security clearance
-Comfortable working in a secure environment
-Must be willing/able to climb stairs and evacuate the launch complex wearing a breathing apparatus if required
-Practical experience working with analog and digital electrical components
