EY’s Valuation, Modelling and Economics (VME) practice is offering an exceptional opportunity for you to join this highly dynamic, collaborative and friendly team with approachable leaders. Our team helps clients understand and address their corporate finance challenges by providing robust and insightful analysis leveraging deep financial analytical skills and broader sector and modelling capabilities. We are growing our practice and have roles available across Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Canberra and Perth.
As a Senior Consultant in the Valuation, Modelling and Economics team, you’ll play a key role with our clients, providing high quality financial and strategic analysis and insights through the development of financial models and analysis, and application of data analytics in relation to clients’ issues, projects and new strategic initiatives. Throughout all projects, you will leverage your deep understanding of corporate finance to provide value-adding insights to support decision making and solve a broad range of commercial issues.
Your key responsibilities
In this role, you will have a primary focus on financial modelling with additional exposure to data analytics, and economic analysis. You’ll spend your time working with team members to deliver and review a wide range of engagements including financial modelling, decision support and transaction analytics, macroeconomic forecasting, scenario analysis, options analysis and business case development. In addition, you will have the opportunity to develop and share sector specific expertise in a number of industry sectors aligned with your experience and interests.
Skills and attributes for success
A degree qualification in a related discipline such as Business, Finance, Statistics and Economics
A focus on modelling, data analytics and / or economic analysis, and interest in solving challenging problems
Sound knowledge of financial and accounting concepts
Excellent interpersonal and client relationship skills with the ability to build internal and external networks
Good time and project management skills
To qualify for the role you must have
Strong modelling skills with a proven ability to create robust and flexible models and financial analysis
Numerical and analytical skills, with a demonstrated aptitude in quantitative and qualitative analysis
Strong written, interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
2-4 years’ of relevant experience (this may include another modelling team or consulting, accounting, economics environment)
Ideally, you’ll also have
Strong industry knowledge in one or more sectors (eg, Transport, Real Estate or Mining & Metals) from previous consulting or corporate experience;
Achievement or progress towards a post-graduate qualification such as CA or CFA; and
Additional experience in any of the following; STATA; Eviews; R; Python; Matlab; MS Access; SQL Server; VBA; Data Visualization applications (e.g. Tableau, Spotfire, MS Powerview)
