Job Description

The Marketing & Outreach Relations Specialist serves as the contact, educator and resource person to voluntary and faculty physicians, community organizations and other potential referral sources to assure awareness of specialty service lines. Supports account development, on-going communication, customer service and recovery as well as providing subject matter expertise of Service Line and IT. Develop in-service activities to aide both clients and staff in issues related to the Service Line operations; and assist in coordinating related marketing activities.

  1. Serves as subject experts on integration of physician offices with the Service Line and ensures referral source satisfaction. Forms the primary communication line with physician clients.

  2. Identifies, plans and implements physician and referral source outreach in collaboration with clinical and operational staff. Develops and maintains working relationships with referral sources.

  3. Develops and implements marketing and sales strategies to enhance the acquisition of new business.

  4. Assists in establishing, building, maintaining and managing doctor to doctor relationships (physician and referring clinician).

  5. Installs the VDI application, trains and supports clinician in the use of same. Assists physicians and referral sources in obtaining remote access via Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI).

  6. Trains and supports referring clinicians in the use of Centricity/PACS.

  7. Assists faculty clinicians in navigating Allscripts (EMR) as well as

identifies technology needs that support data collection and report dissemination necessary for physician relationship building.

  1. Works collaboratively with senior leadership in the creation and development of marketing and community education materials, mediums and venues.

  2. Coordinates marketing efforts through in part: office visits, grand rounds, luncheon and dinner meetings, clinical presentations, CME courses and local industry meetings.

  3. Works collaboratively with Northwell Health marketing department to ensure consistent branding ie: digital and social media, brochures, posters, flyers, handouts, media advertisements, etc.

  4. Utilizes statistical reports to identify referral targets, evaluate marketing outcomes for effectiveness/results and develop market strategy with senior leadership.

  5. Maintains an understanding of local competition and reports back to senior leadership.

  6. Participates in the development of an annual budget to support service line initiatives and monitors ongoing expenses as appropriate.

  7. Participates in community events ie: local hospital events, health fairs, street fairs, conferences, local Breast Cancer Coalitions, local Chamber of Commerce, etc.

Performs related duties, as required.


  • High School Diploma, required. Knowledge of Marketing as normally acquired through the completion of a Bachelor's Degree, preferred.

  • Minimum of five (5) years experience in customer service, and using direct marketing and sales techniques.

  • Experience in establishing, building and maintaining physician relationships as well as strong understanding of the specific needs of referring subspecialty physicians, preferred.

  • Strong project management, new program implementation, analytical and customer service skills.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with third party billing systems.

  • Knowledge of applicable laws and regulatory policies including Stark, Anti-Kickback, and HIPPA.
