Job Description



Maintains and troubleshoots LIS software and hardware. Implements new or updated software modules. Interacts with all Laboratory and non-Laboratory personnel with regards to Soft Laboratory proper use.


  1. Coordinate Soft System updates, assess their impact on laboratory performance with lab management.

  2. Investigate problems between LIS and other interfaced systems and instruments.

  3. Install, monitor, and maintain all Laboratory hardware; Patient Service Center Hardware and all remote software systems in Physician offices and nursing homes.

  4. Implement, monitor, and maintain all Laboratory LIS interfaces, Laboratory instrument interfaces and Laboratory enhancements.

  5. Troubleshoot Laboratory software, hardware, interfaces, and problems.

  6. Analyze, plan, implement, and monitor all new interfaces, software, and hardware.

  7. Order and maintain phone lines in Physician offices and centers for remote dial-in.

  8. Customize test panels and profiles to satisfy physician's needs. Customize menus for various service areas (OR, ER, Dialysis, etc.). Customize hospital reports to meet physician's needs.

  9. Assign Soft access codes for remote users, limiting their ability to view only their own patients. ie: OR, Nursing, Endo, etc.

  11. Setup all new tests, wards, physicians, phlebotomists, messages, keypad templates, and etc. on the Soft Laboratory system.

  12. Performs related duties, as required.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required. Two-year degree or equivalent in health care or computer science field, preferred.

  • Minimum of two (2) years relevant computer experience in a hospital setting, required. Laboratory experience, preferred.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, required.

  • Ability to identify, analyze and resolve problems logically and systematically.

  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
