Verizon Network Infrastructure Planner in Richardson, Texas
What you’ll be doing...
Develop integration plans for the Verizon IP and MPLS networks with iEN (Intelligent Edge Network). These plans will focus on the Verizon IP and MPLS networks; Wireless, Public IP and Private IP.
The iEN business case require all the equipment to build and seed the iEN, migration of existing traffic to iEN, and then legacy equipment to be decommissioned from the Verizon networks; the iEN build, migration and decommission project is about a 10 year plan and one of the objective for our senior executives.
The integration plans will include forecasting capacity, rollout and building of new service, migration plans of customers, circuits, and traffic to IEN, as well as the associated site and element level decom plans of the legacy (non-IEN) infrastructure; those plans will have the required details information to be executable plans for Engineering and Field Operations execution.
You will also help develop requirements, drive the engineering and operational processes, ensure the plans are executed, delivered as planned and report back to management on a bi-weekly basis on the progress of these plans.
Also, you will be asked to present to upper management on a regular basis, provide updates on the progress of the project, discuss and provide solutions for risks and issues that could delay the project.
What we’re looking for...
You'll need to have:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or engineering/network discipline or four or more years of work experience.
Six or more years of relevant work experience.
Experience in planning or engineering IP networks.
Experience in working with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Experience in developing business cases.
Experience with of IP, MPLS, Ethernet Services in Wireline and Wireless networks.
Even better if you have:
Ten or more years of experience in planning or engineering IP networks.
Demonstrated excellent communication and written skills as well as excellent project management skills.
Experience in developing migration strategies from old to new technologies.
Experience in coming up with creative plans to cut operating costs and have a track record of delivering cost savings to the bottom line.
Experience using some of these tools or systems VPLAN, CoFEE, ICON, TIRKS, BGW, MECCA, Nautilus, NSAP/VSAP, NAR, Tableau, CCP, WANDL, Eclipse, RANCID, Juniper NorthStar, Juniper MPLSview.
Knowledge of vendors and technical aspects for the supporting below equipment:
Cisco NCS6K Router, NCS40xx Switching Shelf, NCS200x Photonic Shelf, ASR9K, GSR, ESR, AAC NCS540.
Juniper MX2020, MX2010, MX960, M320, M40.
