Essential Functions:

Responsible for administration and monitoring of tax equity and debt project finance and multi-draw structured financings in the Renewable Energy Finance (“REF”) portfolio. Such activities will include periodic project performance review; project performance forecasting and financial statement review; approving funding advances, construction draws, and collateral eligibility; and monitoring the credit profile of key transaction counterparties (e.g. Borrowers, Servicers, Project Sponsors and Off-takers). With respect to non-routine matters, the LSCO will be expected to take a lead role in discussions and negotiations with our clients and related interactions with REF senior management. The LCSO will also occasionally participate in on-site operational due diligence with respect to multi-draw facilities.

A key element of the LCSO’s role will be ongoing credit responsibility for a designated portfolio of tax equity and debt project and structured financings. With respect to this portfolio, the LCSO will also perform the monitoring requirements outlined in BAL Credit Policy and REF Guidelines. This will include the preparation of status reviews and risk rating scorecards, as well as troubled asset reports. The LCSO will also assist in responding to information requests on the portfolio from senior Credit and Risk management.

In executing these duties, the LCSO will interact with REF Program Management, Credit Underwriting, Engineering Support, Pricing, Legal and Contracts officers as needed. The LCSO will have significant interaction with our clients in the context of routine administration and project/financial performance discussions, as well as to address any credit, documentation or technical matters that may develop with individual transactions or projects.

The position/qualification requirements are described as a Leasing Credit Senior Officer; however, depending upon the qualifications met by the candidate could be filled as a Leasing Credit Officer II.

Required Education:

Undergraduate degree in finance or accounting; MBA preferred.

Prior Work Experience:

8 to 10 years’ experience in commercial banking, leasing, or finance industry with significant credit, secured equipment finance, tax equity and project finance experience. Experience in energy project finance is essential; renewable energy project finance a plus. Similarly, knowledge of energy-related industries is essential; familiarity with the renewable energy sector is a plus.

Required Skills:

  • Foundation in secured equipment-oriented and project finance, with experience in commercial and large corporate credit analysis. Comfortable with financial and project performance analysis.

  • Strong credit and risk analysis skills. Understands elements of complex transaction structures (tax equity and debt) and renewable energy generation projects. Similar aptitude for reviewing and understanding legal documents and project contracts.

  • Good project and financial modeling skills.

  • Ability to work efficiently and productively on several transactions or tasks at one time.

  • Ability to interact effectively with internal and external clients and partners.

  • Clear and articulate oral and written communication skills

  • Computer skills; very comfortable with applications such as Word and Excel.

  • Results oriented; is able to meet deadlines.

  • 10% Travel

  • Preferred locations – New York, Providence, Charlotte or Boston
