Lockheed Martin Senior Mechanical Design Engineering Manager / Orlando, FL in Orlando, Florida

Description: -This position requires a decisive leader capable of the functional management of approximately 200 mechanical design engineers in Design, Checking, and Liaison (Design Support).

-Staffing programs with technically competent personnel as required ensuring that departmental support to program is effective and timely.

-Support weekly manpower staffing meetings and reviews. -Match the capabilities of personnel as appropriate.

-Work interactively with the Human Resources Department to submit personnel for awards and recognition, support initiatives and recruiting new hires.

-Participate in technical reviews and provide technical oversight to program issues as required.

-Assist programs and personnel usage of corporate and MFC policy.

-Coordinate the section's performance assessment process.

-Review and signs-off on all department annual performance reviews.

-Recommend merit increases and promotions in accordance with employee performance and company budgets and guidelines.

-Support the enterprise director in understanding and maintaining the department overhead budget.

-Assist in developing the department strategies and goals.

Maintain relevant contacts within industry, universities, and customer areas.

-Assure development of methodology and acquisition of equipment's and tools to improve the effectiveness and productivity of the organization.

Desired Skills: -Knowledge of manufacturing processes, casting processes and metal finishing processes are highly desired.


-Must be a US Citizen and hold an Active Department of Defense Secret Clearance with a closed investigation (or re-investigation) within 5 years.

-Candidate must have a Bachelor's or Master's degree (preferably in an engineering related discipline) with over 20 years of professional experience.

-Candidate must have a minimum of 7 years of management experience.

-Required experience in documentation, and working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), design, materials, and Engineering Mechanics

-Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills

-Individual must have a strong vision for personnel development with an emphasis on the mentoring process.
