Description: Lockheed Martin is seeking an Servo and LOS Stabilization Engineer to lead a performance modeling initiative for laser beam pointing control. This task will seek to effectively utilize existing models available through Operational Analysis, available from other LM companies, AFRL developed models, and modification or development of related MFC tools. The objective is to generate performance models and variations to allow development of tactical airborne beam control and pointing systems. The EO Engineer would be expected to learn the details of Lockheed Martin’s existing laser beam control capability and identify ways to enhance Lockheed’s overall EO modeling capability.
Candidate would add to their existing skill set by learning on-the-job. The candidate will be supported by SMEs but would be expected to be self-directed in gathering existing models, in formulating a collaborative roadmap for capability gap analysis, in assessing strengths to be expanded, and in evaluating unknowns in modeling for possible further development.
Candidate must demonstrate experience with feedback controls, gimbal stabilization, and inertial sensors such as gyros, accelerometers and IMUs.
Required skills are knowledge of EO beam pointing control concepts, creation and operation of MATLAB, linkage of multi-variable models, presentation creation, and communication of ideas.
Desired Skills: MATLAB, Simulink programming skills are highly desired.
Candidate must demonstrate the ability to perform the following Servo and Stabilization Engineering assignments:
Design precision gimbal control stabilization for airborne electro-optic (EO) sensor systems.
Develop of closed loop control models and specification of gimbal mechanics for new sensor systems.
Define the control system architecture and evaluate design concepts for required performance.
Demonstrate experience with feedback controls, gimbal stabilization, and inertial sensors such as gyros, accelerometers and IMUs.
Demonstrate experience with digital and analog electronics such as drive amplifiers, motors, ADC, and position resolvers.
Perform modelling of 3D dynamic systems in MATLAB/Simulink or a similar simulation environment.
Demonstrate an understanding of optimal estimation in applications such as target tracking, navigation and transfer alignment.
Must have an interim secret prior to start.
