Lockheed Martin Database Engineering Manager in Orlando, Florida

Description: This Enterprise IT Manager level position drives consistent engineering, design and implementation of database services in support of the Aeronautics and Space Business Areas. This position is a key member of the Enterprise Applications Strategy & Integration (S&I) staff that leads the definition and implementation of database strategies and best practices, and ensures that consistent application database solutions and tools are utilized for design, implementation and operations.

Work location at a Lockheed Martin site is required. Preferred locations are Fort Worth, TX, Marietta, GA or Littleton (Deer Creek), CO, but other locations will be considered.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

•Ensure database services are leveraged across the Aeronautics and Space Business Areas.

• Responsible for implementing and sustaining secure and reliable database solutions that meet all Aeronautics, Space and/or Enterprise IT requirements. Includes identifying and driving opportunities to consolidate best practices within and outside the organization.

•Defining and contributing to database-related technical and service strategies and roadmaps (e.g., Databases in the Cloud, NextGen Database – database selection).

•Ensure the successful resolution of technical engineering issues.

•Identify and manage risk associated with database services and solutions.

•Ensure flawless interaction and coordination with program and business area Engineers, Architects and Application teams.

•Provide independent consultation support to key program technical reviews in support of program application database engineering design and implementation.

•Ensure that database program and sustainment artifacts are thorough and consistent with established engineering processes.

•Responsible for human resource administration and development (performance management, merit, promotions, etc.) for the team.

•Successfully manage all aspects of resource planning & assignments.

•Ensure successful hiring and staff augmentation for the skills needed on the team. Responsible for areas of education, training and compliance to ensure the required skills are available and deployed as needed.

•Manage talent assessment and development for subordinates. Build and maintain a Database Services team capable of creating strong collaborative relationships both within Enterprise Applications and with the teams they interact with.

•Ensure Business Area IT and Enterprise Apps S&I budgets are adhered to and optimally used to facilitate achieving the organizational goals.

•Ability to travel as required.

Basic Qualifications:

•Demonstrated expertise, experience and/or technical leadership with Database application technologies across multiple business initiatives.

•Demonstrated Expertise across System Engineering life-cycle from planning through operations & maintenance as it pertains to database and/or database application design, implementation, analysis and trouble-shooting.

• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

• Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills and teaming.

•Working knowledge of Enterprise IT business processes and technologies.

•Proven ability to successfully lead teams across geographical locations.

•Demonstrated leadership skills managing budget, schedule, risk and technical skills.

•Demonstrated large scale process improvement skills.

US Citizenship Required

Desired Skills:

•Demonstrated experience in a previous database technical leadership role.

•Working knowledge of Aeronautics and/or Space Business Area business processes and technologies.

•Knowledge and demonstrated experience with Aeronautics and/or Space IT Database and software engineering procedures.

•Demonstrated large-scale IT Operations and/or Enterprise experience in a database engineering role.

•Working knowledge of multiple database technologies, including but not limited to SQL Server, Oracle and open source DBs (PostgreSQL, etc) in both an engineering and sustainment capacity.

•Demonstrated experience in developing, communicating and executing technical strategies, plans, and roadmaps.

•Demonstrated understanding of the required maturity of database engineering artifacts for program and security technical reviews.

•Demonstrated business acumen and ability to balance technical requirements with business needs.

•Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of database technology implementations in a complex, large scale enterprise environment.

•Outstanding business area credibility and relationships. Working experience across multiple LM Business Areas.

•CAM Training/Certification

•Understanding of industry trends and tools related to database implementation and analysis.

•Proven Full Spectrum Leadership skills.
