Lockheed Martin Algorithm Developer/GNC Engineering - Orlando, Florida in Orlando, Florida

Description: Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control division is seeking experienced engineers and research scientists with a strong record of innovation in the design, development, and deployment of advanced algorithms within embedded systems to join our team in Orlando, Florida.

The successful candidate will be a self-starter who is comfortable multi-tasking across a number of programmatic and technical responsibilities and work well in a collegial team environment among subject matter experts coming from a variety of academic backgrounds. Newcomers to the defense industry coming from academia as well as experienced candidates have historically integrated well with our team, so both are encouraged to apply.

You will join or lead small multi-disciplinary teams of engineers and algorithm developers through the full lifecycle of product development (internal research and development, business capture, mission analysis, design reviews, developmental field testing, performance assessments, and algorithm deployment).

Algorithm research and development focus areas include but are not limited to: machine learning, data science, inertial navigation, object tracking, object classification, and physics-based modeling and simulation.

You must have the ability to obtain an interim security clearance and considered a US Citizen to be eligible for this role.

Basic Qualifications:

• A PhD from an accredited college in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, physics, computer science, applied mathematics, or similar with 5 or more years of professional or post-doc experience

OR

• A Master’s degree from an accredited college in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, physics, computer science, applied mathematics, or similar with at least 7 years of professional experience

OR

• A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, physics, computer science, applied mathematics, or similar with at least 9 years of professional experience

• Coursework in linear algebra, probability and statistics, and multivariate calculus.

You must have the ability to obtain an interim security clearance and considered a US Citizen to be eligible for this role.

Desired Skills:

• Coursework or professional experience in Kalman filtering or optimal state estimation

• Proficiency in MATLAB or similar computer algebra software

• Experience with linear algebra software packages

• Strong programming skills that can translate to C++ development in a Linux environment

• Proficiency in deploying algorithms that satisfy real-time performance requirements

• Proficiency in the processing and analysis of big data

• Strong understanding of the physics of motion sensing devices

• Knowledge of infrared detection technology, radiometry, and imaging sensors
