Verizon Director, Media Strategy & Demand Activation in New York, New York

What you’ll be doing...

The Director of Media Strategy and Demand Activation will oversee all planning and activation strategies for Verizon Fios, all B2B Lines of Business as well as enterprise, and Verizon Connect. The position sits within the Corporate Marketing organization and reports to the Chief Media Officer. It includes primary decision-making responsibility as well as guidance to agencies, direct reports and Business Unit marketing.

Key Responsibilities

Responsible for Media Strategy, Media Planning & Buying for all communication across consumer general market and multicultural including: Brand, Product launches, Video (all screens), Streaming Audio, consumer Sponsorships and Integrations, and Data Driven / Data Informed Media. The role requires both National (B2B, Hum & Enterprise Fleet) and local (Fios) experience based on the varied footprints. The Director will also work closely with other internal teams: Centralized media functions (i.e. SEM, Social), Other Demand Activation Leads, Sponsorship Teams, Creative Teams, Business Unit Marketing, Website team, Call Center, Finance, and external agencies including key partners (i.e. Publics Groupe).

  • Strategy, Media Planning & Buying for all Fios, B2B & Verizon Connect activity spanning offer based messaging, product launches, seasonal messaging and key initiatives across general market and multicultural. Combination of national and market level activity.

  • Fios Consumer – Select local markets

  • Fios Business – Select markets and XO acquisition

  • B2B – National and select markets

  • Verizon Connect - Consumer – National activity for Hum

  • Verizon Connect - Business – National activity for Fleetmatics, Telogis, NetworkFleet

  • Accountable for driving strategy / agency direction, providing clear briefing and direction

  • Incorporates all media touch points (display, video, audio, high impact etc.) targeting key segments (i.e. Millennials, Streamers, Multicultural)

  • Leverages Data signals across channels to further bolster data-informed portions of our plans with data-driven decisions and personalized messaging

  • Drive demand (website traffic and call volume) for new customer acquisition to meet sales goals for the business

  • Leverage insights and learnings to help achieve channel mix targets

  • Develop Marketing partnerships with national and local media companies

  • Coordinate with VZ Marketing and BU Marketing Analytics team to analyze performance, monitors campaigns for improvements, ensuring campaign goals are being fully met.

  • Tight coordination with Demand Acceleration teams, Marketing Insights, Marketing Effectiveness and Internet Sales Operation teams in Wireless

  • Key lead for establishing segment specific guidelines for minimum break through thresholds, frequency and brand safety that ladder up to overall enterprise guidelines

  • Work with media governance team to ensure multiple business units ad placement isn’t excessive across inventory sources

  • Tracking commitments with key partners

  • Monthly Business Reviews with the Business Unit

  • Activation Team Work Stream leadership (provide leadership oversight of enterprises wide initiatives)

What we’re looking for...

  • 12+ years of media planning & buying experience spanning all media types (digital experience is key)

  • 5+ years of B2B marketing/media experience, with a focus on small business

  • Client or Media Agency experience within a brand awareness and direct response capacity

  • Detail-oriented

  • Results driven

  • Interested in trends and able to use the trending data to draw insights

  • Possess strong leadership competencies

  • Flexible and driven to move with the pace of the business

  • Have a passion for digital, search and new technologies and curiosity for the new

  • Have good communications skills

  • Ability to lead, work and multi-task in a fast-paced environment with the agility of business and marketplace

  • Ability to translate marketing strategy it into an effective media strategy, providing direction to media agencies

  • Ability to maintain accurate financial records

  • Ability to analyze data, monitor campaigns for improvements, ensure campaign goals are being fully met and guide agencies
