Hedge fund credit role responsible for managing the counterparty risk on a portfolio of US based hedge funds. Responsibilities include: performing due diligence of fund clients / preparation of written analysis substantiating recourse value of counterparty / proposing risk based limits based on assigned internal counterparty rating / review of potential exposures using VaR, scenario, and other risk based metrics / negotiation of standard industry documentation / conducting ad hoc portfolio reviews.

Required Skills

Prior hedge fund counterparty risk experience required at the Director level.

Strong knowledge of markets and hedge fund products (derivatives, repo, prime brokerage, etc) is required.

Strong written and verbal skills.

Good quantitative and Excel based skills required.

Bachelor’s Degree

General Job Description

Responsible for local management and direction of counterparty credit risk management functions within a product area or type of credit risk (i.e. Equities, Hedge Fund Underwriting, Issuer Risk, etc.). In conjunction with the Counterparty Credit Risk Exec, establishes credit risk management policies, procedures and standards. Responsible for either the underwriting of hedge fund credit risk, issuer risk, credit mitigates in structured transactions or counterparty risk. Additional responsibilities may include proactive evaluation of Problem Assets, the New/Complex Product Approval Process, Counterparty Risk Quantification, limit approval authority and reporting of capital markets credit risk. The Counterparty Credit Risk Mgr will primarily interface with the Trading/Marketing Managers and the managers of other risk and support groups (i.e. Compliance, Finance, Operations, etc.). Incumbents typically have over ten years of experience in credit risk management. Product knowledge and credit skills are necessary.
