Verizon Business Affairs Manager in New York, New York

What you’ll be doing...

At 140, you will be part of the energy that’s evolving the Verizon brand to become a leading technology player. The new Tribeca space will bring together some of the industry’s sharpest minds across a multitude of disciplines, creating an integrated team that can be responsive and innovative across every Verizon touch point.

This integral position will take ownership of various projects relating to the business, legal and financial needs specific to Broadcast, Print and Digital/Social production. This includes but is not limited to, owning vendor payments, production and talent contracting, budget decision making, contracting and licensing of third-party materials, and maintaining superior knowledge of the SAG/AFTRA commercial contract as it relates to specific productions. You will work closely with the Senior Business Affairs Manager, but will take ownership of your own productions and decision making.

  • Taking ownership over all aspects of production business affairs for specific projects including negotiating and finalizing production budgets, talent specifications and contracts, music licensing and usage, budget actualization and vendor payments.

  • Working closely with the Director of Production, Senior Manager of Business Affairs and department Producers to provide general Business Affairs guidance across all channels and pieces of business.

  • Providing oversight and administration of all vendor payments, including Verizon direct payments and third-party payments on owned projects.

  • Working with our talent payment vendor in handling talent contracting for all areas of production, including coordinating with production and account teams to secure accurate and specific rights.

  • Managing all SAG-AFTRA talent paperwork, including generating talent contracts, talent releases, etc.

  • Reviewing creative for potential legal issues, including clearances and licensing of third-party print and social media materials.

  • Working closely with Verizon Legal in resolving potential production liabilities and creating optimal solutions.

  • Handling third-party clearances and licensing (including music, stock images, artwork etc.) necessary for production and tracking and maintaining meticulous appropriate records.

  • Generating vendor production agreements, and negotiating vendor changes and additions to agreements.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.

  • Knowledge of performance unions and talent hiring both in the US and abroad.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree.

  • Six or more years of related work experience in an advertising agency business affairs environment.

  • Experience in a fast-paced environment and comfort managing urgent deadlines, and organizing and reporting a variety of production details.

  • Ability to read and interpret complex contracts and summarize key strategic impact.

  • Strong financial acumen and overall business experience.

  • Experience managing budgets, developing forecasts and assisting operational teams in staying on track of their annual spend.

  • Analytical and results and detail oriented mindset, with the ability to operate at both strategic and tactical levels.
