Job Summary: This position is for a team leader to manage the Large and Regional Financial Institutions (LRFI) program for Consumer Compliance and related supervisory activities, including Bank Holding Companies (BHCs), SLHCs, and FBOs. Individuals should possess specialized knowledge in consumer regulations, as well as knowledge of the LRFI Risk Focused Supervision program. Individual should demonstrate a curiosity and interest in maintaining abreast of consumer protection regulations, initiatives and policy issues related to the supervisory program. Individual should be a commissioned examiner or pursuing commissioning.

Primary Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee supervisory related activities performed by Associates, Senior Associates and/or Analysts affecting 2nd District supervised financial institutions, including consumer compliance supervisory program

  • Ensure that all supervisory-related activities are completed timely and consistently while promoting efficiency in all work processes and while maintaining high quality standards

  • Lead Associates, Senior Associates and/or Analysts administratively and in core supervision/project activities, including setting priorities and supervisory schedules; ensuring accountability; reviewing work products, including final supervisory reports/letters; facilitating talent management and succession planning; assessing development needs; and delivering coaching to ensure continuous development of skills, competencies and the talent pipeline

  • Participate in the prioritization of resources considering local needs, as well as System supervision and policy priorities

  • Oversee the skill development and ongoing education of examination staff to ensure continuous enhancement of their confidence, competence, capability in appropriately supervising district institutions

  • Engage with senior officials of regulated institutions, especially when dealing with significant risks, enforcement actions and program deficiencies, to include acting as an escalation point for consumer compliance issues and concerns, resolving issues as necessary

  • Participate in quality control reviews of the department’s completed work

    Additional Supervisory Responsibilities related to LRFI:

  • Ability to develop and implement a strong supervisory program for LRFIs, including FBOs

  • Strong relationship building skills with various DSTs, CPCs and Department Heads to coordinate on key supervisory work

  • Strong ability to coordinate and work with outside regulatory agencies, including the BCFP


  • Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree

  • Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) designation strongly preferred

  • Commissioned examiner or Consumer regulatory compliance experience/CRA with a minimum of 10 years working in a compliance department/role or as a compliance consultant within the financial services industry strongly preferred and a willingness to work towards commissioning


  • A minimum of 8 years, 10 preferred of relevant experience

  • An understanding of retail banking deposit and lending operations and their related consumer banking laws and regulations, including fair lending and UDAP; an understanding of the LRFI program
  • Exceptional critical thinking skills with the ability to assimilate new information, manage multiple tasks and assess compliance risks
  • Proven team player with the ability to build collaborative relationships

  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written), including the ability to clearly articulate supervisory concerns, as well as the ability to stay focused on key messages to manage questions and discussions effectively during meetings

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Ability to accept changing roles, responsibilities, work processes, assignments, etc.

  • Solid leadership skills and the ability to manage a team of examiners during examinations and provide meaningful performance feedback.

  • Ability to balance multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines within a fast paced and high stress environment

  • Flexibility to adapt to new situations and work sites, including the ability to travel locally or domestically, overnight throughout the Second Reserve District and to other Federal Reserve Banks as needed (up to 15% travel)

  • Analytical and problem solving skills, including the ability to conduct analysis, synthesize information, produce reports and convey findings to area management

  • Ability to supervise staff, manage conflicts, including writing performance appraisals, recommending promotions and corrective action and interviewing candidates for open positions (for supervisory positions only)
