Editor/Proofreader - Creative Development position coordinates the development of advertising/marketing communications materials by creative design and creative writing services to effectively represent the products, services, brands and/or the organization to customers and prospects. The Professional 2, Creative Development work assignments are varied and frequently require interpretation and independent determination of the appropriate courses of action.


Editor/Proofreader - Creative Development -Member Communications Team

Louisville, KY

As part of the Member Communications Team this position as an Editor/Proofreader will applies various communication strategies to create an impression, raise awareness, and encourage a preference and response by the target audience for the organization and its products, services and brands.

The Editor/Proofreader analyzes communications (letters, flyers, faxes, emails, PowerPoint presentations, brochures, scripts, web content) that are directed to physicians and other healthcare providers, with a focus on Medicare risk adjustment (MRA) and Stars. This role applies the highest standards of grammar, Associated Press (AP) and Humana-specific style, and accuracy with rapid turnaround times. The editor/proofreader checks for consistency across all communications and ensures that Humana is communicating to physicians and other healthcare providers in a clear and professional tone.

  • Ensure all printed material is error-free – checking for spelling, punctuation, accuracy, consistency and completeness.

  • Perform detailed work while balancing multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Participate regularly in MRA meetings with legal and compliance representatives to understand how business concerns shape the communication message.

  • Verify that messages are directed at an appropriate reading level and are written in active voice.

  • Ensure that graphics, formatting and layout appear correctly and help convey the desired message.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of proofreading and/or editing experience

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Excellent written communication skills

  • Excellent organization

  • Proficiency in AP Style

  • Familiarity with in-house style guides and branding

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities

  • Ability to edit electronically

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Knowledge of the healthcare industry and/or medical terminology
