Health Information Technology Specialist, Mid

Key Role:

Provide technical capabilities to identify and evaluate information technology (IT) systems and procedures related to foreign country capacity and capability to survey, detect, diagnose and report outbreaks of pathogens and diseases of security concern. Provide technical knowledge in identifying, evaluating health IT systems and procedures meeting user requirements. Plan and execute integration and acceptance testing and working knowledge in creating specifications for systems to meet business requirements. Perform research, conduct interviews related to, and assessments of animal and human public health programs, including IT systems and procedures, and related laws and regulations. Write reports on outcomes of research and assessments of disease surveillance programs and systems, including recommendations. Interface with client science and program management personnel, and work collaboratively with a team of technical subject matters experts, including science, disease surveillance, biosafety and biosecurity, and project management specialists.

Basic Qualifications:

-5 years of experience with supporting clients in IT and software systems

-Knowledge of functional and design expertise in software and systems engineering

-Ability to work on a team

-Ability to travel more than 30% of the time

-Ability to follow standard office computer systems

-Secret clearance

-BA or BS degree IT and Computer Engineering

Additional Qualifications:

-Experience with epidemiology and disease tracking software

-Experience in working with biodefense, biosecurity, bio-surveillance or health security

-Experience in consulting

-Experience in working Internationally

-Possession of excellent written and oral communication skills

-MA or MS degree in health informatics or public health
