The RF Engineer designs and analyzes payload antenna and RF systems and components. Responsible for hardware component evaluation, prototype construction, test, and data and performance analysis. Prepares test methods and specifications; analyzes and tests antenna hardware to verify performance characteristics. Provides inputs to Product Development for formal documentation and supports manufacturing during the deliverable assembly and test phase. Performs link analysis and optimization, including effects of propagation medium and possible interference sources. Develops and allocates payload antenna and RF system and subsystem functional and performance requirements. Identifies and tracks payload antenna and RF technical performance measurements (TPMs). Performs payload antenna and RF system/subsystem/component trade studies. Supports Life Cycle Costs, reliability, availability, and maintainability analysis.
Must have a Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, or other engineering/technical disciplines with understanding of Radio Frequency (RF) and/or Antenna System/Subsystem Architectures.
Experience with antenna and RF modeling software including HFSS or FEKO and MATLAB.
Experience with antenna pattern measurement analysis methods and antenna test and pattern measurement systems (e.g., Far Field, Near Field, and Compact Ranges).
Experience with antenna and RF component design and development.
Experience with focus on technical authority of RF or Antenna Products and ensure technical integrity of the product through individual ownership, responsibility, and accountability; thus strengthening expectations of product performance, mission success, and operational excellence.
