Sustained Engineering (SE) provides global engineering and operational support across the entire infrastructure portfolio of technologies and services while driving our evolution to a modern Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) / DevOps model.
The Storage Product Family is a key function within the SE organization and has over 400PB of Storage under management. File Storage is a key product within this product family. The File storage team is accountable for the delivery of File storage services globally across the enterprise. This includes the design, architecture, engineering, service management and operational support of all file storage technologies in the firm.
In the role of SE Global Head of File Storage, you will have end to end accountability for the File Storage service within GTI, from departmental management, financial management, strategy, delivery, service lifecycle and production operations. This will require strong technical experience, as well as strong leadership skills.
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
Overseeing Service Definition and Value Proposition, Service Offering and Roadmap, Client Engagement, Financial Management and Investment planning, Service Delivery Operations, Infrastructure Lifecycle Management, Service Measurement and Continuous Improvement for the File Storage Service.
Manage the SE File Storage service globally within a ‘follow-the-sun’ model.
Actively promote Agile working practices and help the team transition from their current processes
Support the Team Leads (Engineering, DevOps, Provisioning) in promoting a culture of ownership, responsibility, and quality
Take ownership of the File Service’s Infrastructure and roadmaps and promote a pragmatic delivery strategy focusing on early delivery of value
Facilitate communication between all stakeholders to ensure that work is prioritized appropriately to meet business objectives, managing the (sometimes competing) priorities of three separate companies all judged on their revenue and EBITDA performance
Work with technical and non-technical stakeholders and the team to specify epics and stories with sufficient discussion and acceptance criteria to ensure successful delivery
Organize work estimates at various levels of granularity to set delivery expectations appropriately and allow informed prioritization
Prioritize issues and business as usual work alongside project deliverables
Update stakeholders with timely progress reports, highlighting successes and delivery risks (and mitigation strategies identified)
Managing the departmental budgets, P&L and service charge back process.
Manage all team risk and security requirements, escalating where there are gaps and delivering tactical and strategic remediation plans
Provide executive steerage for incident escalation – directing resource and effort as required
Deliver process improvement through constant review both internally and with partner departments
Proactively manage the estate efficiency and hygiene by maintaining the infrastructure to known engineering standards.
Partnering with the Client engagement team to provide SME knowledge and LOB engagement as required
Represent SE File Storage Services to the business, risk and compliance contacts
Ensure team capacity reporting to maintain and accommodate demand projections
Departmental KPI metric tracking and reporting
Identify and deliver cost saving initiatives
• Proven track recording in managing a large infrastructure technology organization
• Solid understanding of File (NAS) storage technologies
• Experience of financial management, benchmarking and investment planning
• ITIL or similar IT service management and operational experience
• Proven track record of managing diverse global organizations
• Proven experience defining and implementing metrics and decision making based on the data
• Leadership experience in managing cross-departmental delivery and the flexibility to influence people at a variety of levels internally and externally
• Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to interact with senior management and engineers, as well as develop good client relationships
• Innovative mindset and automations solutions experience.
• Strong analytical and problem solving, decision making and relationship building skills
• Good understand of Change, Incident, Problem and Risk Management practices
