Verizon Predictive and Prescriptive Analytics Principal in Lake Mary, Florida

Role Description:

This is a strategic analytical role within the Business Analytics Center of Excellence responsible for providing guidance to leadership at the highest levels for operational and strategic decision making. The incumbent will apply advanced QRM techniques in managing credit risk within Consumer and Business loan portfolio. This is a new role created to complement a growing team of data scientists and credit modelers in optimizing business strategies

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Act as a quantitative risk management expert for Verizon’s Device Payment Loan portfolio, by developing and maintaining PD, EAD, LGD models and performing credit portfolio stress testing

  • Build and assess Customer Value Models and Survival models to fine tune on-going Credit and Fraud policies

  • Drive advanced analytics on loan portfolio and service receivables to model impacts of changing macro-economic conditions and comply towards US CECL

  • Provide strategic guidance for efficient planning on Bad-Debt performance and churn behaviors

Analytical Work Management:

  • Partner with internal business partners in gathering business requirements and developing advanced analytical solutions to complex problems

  • Hands on active participation in analytical projects and delivering improvements in predicting desired metrics to enable robust financial planning & decision guidance

  • Participate in discussions on portfolio resiliency and stress testing efforts to better prepare the business to changing economic conditions as well as adhere to new accounting standards

  • Prepare presentation materials and formal documents for use with senior management to promote findings and drive science based decision support recommendations

Modeling & Infrastructure:

  • Develop and deploy both traditional statistical models and machine learning techniques and algorithms: Regression, clustering, neural networks, Anomaly Detection, Random Forest etc. to improve prediction and forecasts of risk metrics

  • Partner with in-house data strategy experts to design analytically ready datasets by stitching customer data across multiple platforms and incorporating business rules

  • Periodically validate model performance and update models based on changing business strategies/objectives. Automation of repeatable tasks at scale

Leadership

  • Develop strong relationships with business partners to transform the role of analytics to decision guidance (analytics as partner not as support function)

  • Partner with functional groups (Treasury, Commercial Finance, Operations, Marketing etc.) to embed analytics and science driven approach in all business decisions

  • Be recognized as a subject matter expert and participate inknowledge/best practice sharing opportunities

  • Continually broaden and strengthen knowledge of analytical methods, vendors and tools

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline such as Financial Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics or Operations Research or four or more years of work experience.

  • Six or more years of relevant work experience

  • Experience Leveraging Quantitative Risk Management Techniques & predictive models to guide business decisions

  • Experience assessing impact of macro-economic scenarios on customer behavior and profitability

  • Experience assessing impact of Developing and implementing advanced analytical solutions to complex business problems

  • Experience in data management, analysis and visualization to realize absolute and incremental commercial gains

Even better if you have:

  • Master's degree in a quantitative discipline such as Financial Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics or Operations Research

  • Experience on usage of one of SAS/R/Python required with thorough knowledge of Linear/Logistic Regression, Survival models and decision tree models

  • Ability to develop advanced analytics in multiple platforms including AWS, Hadoop Clusters as well as Teradata
