Unit Description

This Executive Chef position is a Regional Operations Support Operations (ROS) Manager. This is a temporary position for a time period of up to one year. The selected candidate will be eligible to post to other Sodexo positions while in this temporary role.

This Executive Chef position will support St. Mary's Hospital in Kankakee, IL

The ideal candidate for this Executive Chef position will have previous experience working in a healthcare environment with culinary experience in patient meal service, retail food service and catering. A strong culinary background is preferred along with experience with ordering and inventory and with Sodexo's Food Management System (FMS) or similar systems. This Chef Manager will manage a team of 30 front-line staff and will work a flexible schedule that will include some opening and closing shifts and rotating weekends.

Position Summary

Provides culinary leadership within a medium sized unit including menu planning, program execution and staff management & training. Works directly with internal and external clients managing the catering process from beginning through execution.

Key Duties

  • Implements & coordinates the culinary function.

  • Directs & trains cooks & utility workers.

  • Ensures food preparation & production meets operational standards.

  • Manages catering & retail areas.

  • Customer & Client satisfaction.

  • Financial management to include food cost & labor management.

  • Manages food & physical safety programs.

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Associate's Degree

Basic Management Experience - 2 years

Basic Functional Experience - 2 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
