Lockheed Martin Software Engineering Manager in Huntsville, Alabama

You will perform as technical leader and software manager within the HCSW Software Integrated Product Team. This position reports to the Software Senior Manager and will serve as functional manager for 10-19 software engineers. Primary responsibility is to lead software product development or test teams, providing technical leadership to junior staff to (1) develop schedules and management tools to plan, execute, and monitor software development activities, (2) define the approach for implementing allocated software requirements, (3) complete software requirement analysis, (4) complete software architectural and detailed design, (5) develop software consistent with requirements and design, (6) conduct unit and integration tests of new and modified software units and items, and (7) deliver completed software for build integration and test. In the execution of these responsibilities the candidate is to adhere to company and program command media and customer contract requirements.

This position also requires performing functional management responsibilities including work force management (re-assignments and placements, recruitment and selection of new employees and terminations) and personnel management (training, mentoring, career development, performance and compensation, and promotions).

Management responsibility include significant collaboration within the Program, and Space Software Engineering organization. The successful candidate will be expected to support communications with all levels of employees, customers, and industry from engineer up to executive. Strong skills in conflict resolution, proactive communication, and building collaborative relationships are desired.

Basic Qualifications:

3 years minimum experience as a lead and/or Associate Manager.

Demonstrated capability to proactively work through difficult technical, project and resource challenges.

Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills with proficiency briefing executive-level management, and customers.

Demonstrated ability to collaborate successfully between multiple engineering disciplines.

Desired Skills:

Familiar with software development processes and life cycles.

Knowledge of and experience with the missile / missile defense programs.

Willingness to accept responsibility, be held accountable, and exercise authority to ensure Mission Success.

Proven ability to dissect complex problems into executable plans to solve them.

Experience in conflict resolution, proactive communication, and building collaborative relationships.

Integration and test experience with large complex software systems.

10 years minimum demonstrated experience in systems engineering, software development, software integration, and/or software testing.
