Lockheed Martin Supplier Quality Engineer Senior Staff in Fort Worth, Texas
This position is part of the LM Aero Supplier Quality Management (SQM) team, and reports to Aeronautics Command Center Operations Asc. Mgr. This position is for an Expert Quality Integrator offering SQM expertise and technical assistance to Supplier Quality Engineers and other LM employees deployed across the globe. This Expert Quality Integrator will also be leading/assisting various SQM initiatives and special projects to drive the supply base to Zero Defects. In addition, the candidate will serve as consultant / technical advisor to LM Aero SQM leadership and Quality teams to execute their strategy and enable them to achieve the SQM mission and objectives. This position will also assist in shaping/influencing the development and standup of the Aero Command Center and its operations thru direct engagements with other LM Aero organizations such as Engineering, Supply Chain, Production and Sustainment. May be assigned lead responsibility for team or group of subordinate Quality Engineers and be fully accountable for assigned area of performance.
Goals of the selected Quality Engineer are: - Help Shape/Influence Aero Command Center Concept of Operations - Identify opportunities for Aero Command Center Engagement to reduce Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) associated with procured products. Opportunities may result in defect reduction, cost savings, or cost avoidance. - Manage and monitor tech assist activity - Support/Mentor deployed Supplier Quality Engineers (SQE) on SQM Processes and Procedures. - Lead and support key Supplier Quality strategic initiatives and projects.
The selected candidate will be accountable for collaborating with various functions (both internally and externally) to solve technical and contractual issues, and ensuring execution is aligned with the quality and affordability goals set by the LM Aero programs.
The position may require up to 20% travel within the United States. Must be a US Citizen.
Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a technical / STEM field or equivalent experience Quality Assurance or Project Management. Experience developing performance improvements plans, including: return-to-green plans, zero defect plans, excellence plans. Experience interacting with the following stakeholders: SQM Leadership, Program Management, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, and / or Government Customer Representatives.
Desired skills Ability to collaborate cross-functionally, build consensus, shape/influence opinion and articulate the future state. Demonstrated process knowledge and implementation of product quality engineering competencies including product hardware knowledge. Customer Service oriented mindset. Familiar with Quality Systems specifically AS9100, ISO 9001:2008, AS9103, AS9102 Ability to ID risks/opportunities and apply Lean and Six Sigma tools appropriately including performing root cause analysis and driving effective corrective action Green Belt Certification and/or related Technical Background/Experience with Progress toward Black Belt. Facilitation experience, Lean/Sigma practical experience Demonstrated ability to handle a large amount of responsibility and demonstrated effective implementation and execution Proficient experience with Microsoft Office toolset with specific focus on MS Excel data ASQ Certified Quality Engineer.
