Lockheed Martin is seeking a Modeling and Simulation Software Engineer to support the Aeronautics Advanced Development Programs (ADP) operations analysis team leveraging advanced modeling and simulation capabilities to address our customer’s most challenging problems. The candidate will be responsible for software development required to model military systems and scenarios in constructive and Human-In-The-Loop (Virtual) simulations to support requirements definition, CONOPS evaluation, operational and cost effectiveness studies, and military utility assessment, including development of and modifying of operational analysis tools. Candidate will be expected to apply system & software engineering skills to solve technical engineering problems and develop code and applications to improve the analysis capability. Applying system & software engineering skills, candidate must clarify & derive user requirements; research & develop algorithms to represent systems, interactions between systems, and environmental impacts; design software architecture and algorithms to meet user requirements; test & verify software application to meet user needs and complete documentation.
This specific position focuses on software development within a US Government tool called AFSIM (Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration, and Modeling) which is being utilized across LM Aero programs to address mission effectiveness analysis needs.
The successful candidate will be developing Graphical User Interface (GUI) applications utilizing the Qt GUI environment as well as developing associated visualization capabilities in Open GL and OpenSceneGraph (OSG). These applications will be associated with the AFSIM Warlock virtual wargaming environment and framework. In addition to these core GUI/graphics application development tasks, the candidate may also be integrating these GUI applications with the core AFSIM software environment to execute operator actions in the simulation. Finally, tasking may also include the development of custom AFSIM software improvements and plugins focusing on the integration of Lockheed developed software modules relating to sensor performance, battle management, weapons, and resource management and allocation algorithms.
Candidate will interface with project management, customers, and other technical organizations. Candidate will be expected to develop and maintain up-to-date knowledge and understanding of military operations and systems; as well as up-to-date software engineering technologies and methods.
***Must be a US Citizen. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.*** This position requires a Final Secret Clearance with an Background Investigation within the last 5 years to start.
-BS degree or above in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Physics, Applied Math or Engineering required with appropriate years of experience
-Software development experience; applying object-oriented software design & skills to technical problems
-Experience developing object-oriented software in C, C#, C++, or Java
-Experience developing Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs) in languages such as Qt
Experience in computer graphics and visualization software such as Open GL and OpenSceneGraph (OSG)
-Experience developing software with the Visual Studio integrated development environment
-Must have an active Secret with Background Investigation within last five years to start
-Experience with Modeling, Simulation and Analysis
-Experience modeling weapon systems and the operation of air & ground systems in constructive or virtual simulations (Especially BRAWLER, ESAMS, EADSIM, SUPPRESSOR, or AFSIM)
-Knowledge of scripting languages: Perl, Python, etc
-Experience with CMake
Experience with software version control tools.
-Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment
-Active government Secret security clearance
