- Transfers patients to and from Endoscopy Unit.
Transports patients from Nursing Units to Endoscopy Unit.
Obtains patient chart for transport
Transports patients from Endoscopy Unit back to Nursing Units.
Notifies appropriate Nursing Unit staff of patient's return.
Maintains safety by applying the principles of body alignment when lifting, transferring and positioning patients.
Requests assistance when transferring patient from bed to stretcher or stretcher to bed, when necessary.
Utilizes safety restraints on stretcher or wheelchair to secure patient, during transport.
Assures patient's dignity during transport by keeping patient covered.
Maintains accurate documentation of transfers.
Ensures transport equipment is functioning properly prior to transport.
- Assists Gastroenterologist during procedures.
Takes vital signs (pulse, blood pressure and respiration) on patient and reports abnormalities to Endoscopy RN or Physician.
Assists Physician by holding patient still during procedure safely by applying the principles of body alignment.
Provides emotional support to patient during procedure.
Provides personal hygiene to patient during and after procedure.
Ensures patient medical record is in order; places procedure report in chart before returning chart to Nursing Unit.
- Performs related duties, as required.
*ADA Essential Functions Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
Completion of 100-hour program for Nursing Assistant training, required.
Previous experienced as a Nursing Assistant, preferred.
