Commercial Card, Operations Manager, VP - Elgin, IL

Commercial Card Credit Risk Management is seeking a collaborative and disciplined Manager to join the team located in Elgin, IL. The position provides an excellent opportunity for a professional to gain a thorough understanding of credit, business, operational and technology risk, while managing a team. Nearing Limits is a small team that was previously reporting into Operations and is now aligned with the Credit Risk Management team.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide oversight of the control framework for the management of nearing limit, including data management of client information. Ensure consistent compliance with department procedures across the team. Oversee internal, self assessment (RCSA) and audit control testing and quality.

  • Maintain high standards for quality. Facilitate priority setting, regular feedback and employee development. Assign tasks, projects and ensure understanding, execution and follow through. Provide regular feedback to team members and manager.

  • Foster an inclusive, collaborative working environment. Support the Commercial Card business objectives and take initiative to communicate and link the activities to the business objectives.

  • Drive process improvement and re-engineering to proactively manage credit without client involvement as possible. Determine opportunity for automation and simplification with support from controls team.

  • Partner with other managers in Commercial Card to strengthen the end to end process, address issues and identify/implement process improvements, especially the Credit Risk Manager on site. Consider the Client Experience as an important factor when establishing new processes.

  • Monitor trends on client level and determine adjustments in the day to day process.

  • Facilitate solid product knowledge across the team. Determine necessary and optimal training as appropriate.

  • Consult with CC business partners and the Credit LOB partners to support Commercial Card clients. Identify areas of improvement and constructively address. Respond to LOB requests for process changes and risk mitigation.

  • Identify, support and implement process improvement, including automation of existing activities. Manage automation projects and collaborate with technology as needed, along with other Commercial Card partners.

  • Manage a wide variety of projects to improve efficiency and client experience. Such projects may include, but are not limited to, policy and procedure development and interpretation, assessment of process or control failures and recommendations for selected process improvements, client-specific projects, automation of existing

  • Superior analytical/ problem solving skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including verbal and written

  • Self-reliance, willingness to take ownership and creatively find solutions

  • Strong math skills

  • Strong time-management skills

  • 10 years banking experience

  • Corporate credit risk knowledge

  • Proficiency in Microsoft suite of applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

  • Knowledge of Credit Risk, Commercial Card product and related systems a plus
