JPMorgan Chase Technology Business Analyst in Columbus, Ohio
As a Business Analyst in our Site Reliability Engineering team, you will serve as liaison between our Infrastructure developers and internal Global Technology clients as well as clients from our Lines of Business focusing on client requirements and expectations. This position will be responsible for the development and implementation of processes necessary to improve application / system reliability along with operational support. The position requires approximately equal amounts of focus on both software development and Infrastructure operation disciplines. You will work closely with our partners from the Engineering, Deployment, Operations, and risk and control teams to ensure the solutions we develop meet both the client requirements while adhering to our development best practices and meet cyber /risk policies and mandates. You will be responsible to identify, assess, and document business requirements, prioritizing them, and advising our clients on options, risks, and costs. You will work closely with our development teams and the QA and operations teams to ensure that they understand the requirements and specifications. It requires an individual that is comfortable with various aspects of technology (i.e. Architecture, Infrastructure, Database, and Software development).
This role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including:
5+ years of Business Analyst experience
Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems or related field of study or equivalent relevant experience in software development
Experience in systems development life cycle including waterfall and agile delivery SDLC
Advanced knowledge of application, data and infrastructure architecture disciplines
Experience with developing Functional Specifications, Process Flows, Use Cases and other SDLC deliverables
Self-starter with excellent analytical, communication and problem-solving skills
Working proficiency in developmental toolsets like JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket, Jenkins, Change and Incident Management tools, etc
Proficiency in using Office applications (Word/Excel/Powerpoint/Sharepoint)
Ability to collaborate with high-performing teams and individuals throughout the firm to accomplish common goals
Exposure to one or more general purpose programming languages (Python or Java preferred)
Interface with the clients on functional aspects throughout the project lifecycle. Liaise with other Global Technology as well as Lines of Business teams to understand business priorities and requirements.
Gather requirements by engaging the appropriate users and stakeholders in requirements gathering sessions using various methodologies including use case analysis, and business process analysis, and workflow modeling.
Translate business needs into requirements that can be understood by infrastructure development teams.
Provide subject matter expertise to the development and test teams throughout the project lifecycle.
Assist in developing and reviewing documented test plans, and coordination of UAT.
Manage pre and post release expectations; coordinate defect & change requests raised.
Negotiate function points across lines of business to agree on a common approach where necessary.
It would be your responsibility to ensure that project deliverables meet business requirements, industry best practices and standards, and risk and control policies and that the requirements are clearly understood by development and test teams.
Create and maintain documentation on both internally developed components and applications as well as vendor software we work with (like VMware ESXi/vCenter/VRO, Turbonomic, ect)
Create mockups and field level specifications when necessary to define specific reports, or other application functionality.
Act as a leader in a cross-functional team led by Project Management, to collaborate and implement business objectives and project deliverables across multiple application platforms.
Participate in analysis and design to provide feedback to development.
Provide technical expertise in identifying, evaluating and developing systems and procedures that are cost effective and meet user requirements.
Define new business process or changes to existing business processes as necessary to support the integration of new products and services into our existing environment.
Recommend technical and process improvements where possible to improve the overall effectiveness of our solutions.
Create new procedures when appropriate to improve operational proficiency.
Provide on-going support to other teams within our SRE team as required.
Provide regular timely status updates and presentations to management as required.
