Job Description:

Specific responsibilities of this role include preparing and reviewing accounting for income tax deliverables for multiple entities (including Tier 1 & 2 entities). Legal entities responsibilities include Pierce (post-broker/dealer split), ML Commodities, ML Capital Services, and certain other Pierce subsidiaries. Deliverables include monthly, quarterly, and year end close responsibilities, separate financial statement footnote preparations (mid-year and year end), Baseline and Stress Scenario forecasts, and Basel 3 submissions. Attention to detail is critical for this role so that financial statement balances have the appropriate support and documentation. Strong analytical skills are need to perform necessary analytical review and reconciliations. Some workpapers are critical use spreadsheets or models under the enterprise’s model risk management (MRM) policies. Responsibilities may also include some light tax compliance filings. This role also includes participation on certain Tax Accounting and Compliance (TAC) projects. The candidate will have direct communication with associates with varying levels of experience throughout the enterprise (Corporate Tax and Finance) and with service providers, so great communication and teamwork skills are critical to success. Overtime required.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher

  • 5 + years of public accounting firm or industry experience

  • ASC740 experience

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to analyze US GAAP accounting and tax laws

  • Extensive experience with MS Excel

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize work load in a dynamic environment in order to meet internal and external deadlines

  • Strong time management skills

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • CPA preferred

  • Corptax software experience, especially Corptax AGP

  • Experience with SAP general ledger platform
