Verizon Network Provisioner in Cary, North Carolina
What you’ll be doing...
You will support all aspects of provisioning network services for our customers across a product portfolio. When new services are assigned to a customer, you will provision and enable the services on the network and ensure they are working effectively. Services include layers 0-3 circuits on a global optical and IP infrastructure. You will have the opportunity to interface with various departments, both domestic and international within the company and outside vendors. You will be part of a fast-paced, results-oriented team focused on serving external customers.
Understanding and leveraging the network topology to deliver services worldwide.
Providing support for new customer activations.
Overseeing data accuracy checks, analysis and performing capacity management activities.
Ensuring projects are completing on time and within budget.
Tracking and improving processes and procedures.
Engineer – Lifecycle Architecture & Engineering
Implement and support solutions involving WAN, LAN, WLAN, and Virtual (e.g.; Virtualization, SDN, NFV) technologies.
Where appropriate, responsible for client engagement, technology lifecycle development, and planning.
Provide engineering implementation support of systems hardware, Cisco, Juniper and Aruba/HP, others.
Responsible for the design and technical accuracy for deploying WAN, LAN, WLAN, and virtual (e.g.; Virtualization, SDN, NFV) technologies.
Produce integrated solutions design and support documentation to support customer requirements.
Requires ownership of design and critical issues, creative thinking, and problem resolution skills.
Responsible for the protection of Verizon customer proprietary network information and Verizon information assets.
What we’re looking for...
You have knowledge of networking equipment, planning and design. You enjoy the opportunity to improve existing service and capabilities. You are interested in managing information, resources and infrastructure at an enterprise level to enable high quality service delivery to customers.
You’ll need to have:
Associate’s degree or two or more years of work experience.
Three or more years of relevant work experience.
Knowledge and skills in switching specifically 802.1q, STP, RSTP, MSTP, VLAN.
Knowledge and skills in routing specifically BGP, IS-IS, EIGRP, MPLS, IPSEC VPN tunnels.
Knowledge and skills in optical networking technology: SDH, SONET, OTN.
Technical experience in voice & data/transport networks.
Willingness to be on-call.
Even better if you have:
Obtained certifications in Cisco, Juniper and/or Brocade.
Experience working in a multi-vendor environment including Cisco, Brocade, Ciena, Fujitsu and Alcatel-Lucent.
Developed familiarity with basic concepts related to Interexchange Carrier’s (IXC) and Regional Bell Operating Company processes and procedures.
Developed familiarity with Competitive Local Exchange Carriers (CLEC), Competitive Access Providers (CAP) and Incumbent Local Exchange Carrier (ILEC).
ITIL v3 Certification, or to be completed within 6 months of start date.
