EY’s Professional Practice team supports assurance Partners and teams in delivering efficient high quality audits and provides leadership on complex accounting, auditing and reporting matters. The Professional Practice team handles multiple non-routine tasks and thrives on the challenge of resolving various accounting and reporting issues. The position involves significant contact with and mentorship from Professional Practice Partners and Senior Managers and extensive contact with Partners across the firm. The position will provide opportunities to work on select complex assignments in assurance, including accounting advisory, internal quality initiatives, and market facing activities.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Work on or review complex audit and financial reporting matters including prospectuses and other regulatory filings. Your work will form the basis for firm technical accounting conclusions. Your success will depend on developing and maintaining strong working relationships with key business decision makers and various clients across different industries.
Coach engagement teams on auditing internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR).
Support the engagement quality review process by completing first level review for select risk areas on engagements.
Perform technical accounting/auditing research and precedent research under appropriate supervision. You will be required to become familiar with and serve as a technical champion for EY Atlas and DisclosureNet.
Participate in select Subject Matter Groups (SMG) and Technical Accounting Support Network (TASN) to develop technical expertise and support the wider Assurance practice quality initiatives.
Monitor select IFRS, US GAAP and statutory developments for the Energy market and write related summaries and newsletters for firm and client distribution.
Develop and deliver internal and external training sessions for the Energy market. You will receive presentation training and direct Partner support before and during delivery of training sessions.
Drive and facilitate the implementation of Project Insight within the Energy market.
Candidates completing a successful two-year (or longer) Professional Practice rotation will possess corporate reporting expertise and expanded professional relationships that will enhance their opportunities for long-term career advancement.
Qualifications and Behavioural Competencies:
4 to 5 years of experience and demonstrated success in the audit of publicly accountable enterprises in an auditor oversight jurisdiction
Strong technical background in IFRS, ICFR and audit methodology
A self-starter with organizational and project management skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Works well under pressure with appropriate supervision
Completion of the CPA designation
Experience in presenting internal training courses and/or external presentations would be an asset
