Verizon Wireless Lead Data Scientist in Basking Ridge, New Jersey

What you’ll be doing...

As a Lead Data Scientist in a team where cutting edge AI/ML related innovation happens you will have following responsibilities.

  • Lead a team of talented individuals.

  • Perform data analytics and quantitative modeling for devices and wireless networks to improve device/network performance, quality, user quality of experience, and quality of service.

  • Perform device/network analytics on device/network performance, RF performance, device quality, device antenna performance, device readiness, sector level performance.

  • Statistical modelling of wireless/wireline network and device QoS/KPI/KQI, user behaviors.

  • Visualize/interpret the analytical results using data visualization tools.

  • Develop AI/ML based algorithms models using latest and greatest methodologies available in Data science (Anomaly detection, Forecasting Models).

  • Performance tuning and diagnose/resolve technical issues.

  • Design and implement error handling mechanisms to ensure system stability and security.

  • Design and implement solutions across multiple layers of the technology stack, including data processing, database, web services, network, and user security.

  • Assist UI and client side engineers to assure the system meets overall goals.

  • Perform integration testing and assist QA on large projects.

  • Contribute to requirements analysis, project estimation, design, coding, and testing.

  • Suggest and implement third party libraries and software in the product when appropriate.

  • Deliver applications that meet performance and scalability goals of the project.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

  • Experience in the Wireless industry.

  • Machine learning experience.

Even better if you have:

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Math, Statistics. (PhD Degree preferred)

  • Proven records of papers published in wireless analytics space in IEEE or other effective journals.

  • Master machine learning algorithms including: forecasting, clustering, classification, reinforcement learning, deep learning.

  • Experience with Python, R, Matlab, VBA, Java Scripts.

  • Extensive experience with Spark, Hadoop, MySQL, MS Excel, VBA, TeraData SQL, MS SQL.

  • Expertise of system performance fine tuning of the database schema.

  • Strong analytical capabilities, creativity and critical thinking skills.

  • Good mobile telecommunications industry knowledge (3GPP), including experience with handset manufacturers, network equipment vendors, and/or chipset vendor.

  • Data extraction/transformation/loading, text mining, statistical analysis experience.
