Wells Fargo SQL Server DBA (Database Analyst 4) in West Des Moines, Iowa

The Enterprise Database Management (EDM) Corporate Technology team provides world class database support for the Wells Fargo HR, Finance, Risk and other internal Business areas. The Database Administration (DBA) team works closely with application partners to design, create, implement, and support mission critical database systems with respect to security, backup, database optimization, disaster recovery planing and other database related tasks.

This position will play a key role in providing the highest level of Microsoft SQL Server expertise for performance improvements, problem resolution and database planning for high-availability, SQL Server database environments. Communicating and partnering with application teams will be a major part of this position.

Responsibilities include:

  • Analyzing database performance

  • Database design/planning

  • Capacity planning

  • Resolution and tracking of performance issues

  • Creating and implementing backup and recovery procedures

  • Researching features and functionality of supported SQL Server programs

  • Researching information on problems/questions posed by application DBAs

  • Provide on-call coverage for first response problem solving

The primary support for this position will be supporting Wells Fargo SQL Server database applications. Therefore the resource selected must have hands on working knowledge of:

  • Knowledge of multiple SQL Server platforms: SQL 2008, SQL 2008 R2, SQL 2012, SQL 2014

  • Knowledge of SSIS

  • Ability to problem solve database issues when on-call 24x7

  • Knowledge of performance data collection, monitoring and improvement

  • Knowledge of backups and recovery

  • Knowledge of database security administration

  • Knowledge of database and server performance monitoring, tuning, and capacity planning

  • Effective communication, ability to work independently, and leadership skills are key

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of database design and administration experience

  • 3+ years of MS SQL server experience

  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy

  • A BS/BA degree or higher in information technology

  • Customer service focus with the ability to respond to requests in a timely manner

  • Flexibility to frequently be on call beyond normal working hours
