Summary

As a National Bank Examiner/Bank Examiner (Commercial Credit Lead Expert Support), you will*provide*advice and support to the bank supervision function of commercial credit.

Midsize Bank Supervision*Washington, DC is the preferred location, but this position may be filled in an alternate location. For specific information on geographic pay differentials, click here.*

KEY INFORMATION:**

  • *Position may be filled in an alternate location with reasonable proximity to banks within the Midsize Bank portfolio. Therefore, this is a nontraditional position subject to the Alternative Location Arrangements PPM 3110-53. It may be filled in an alternative location within Midsize Bank Supervision that is a cost effective travel point and in compliance with the requirements of the Alternative Location Arrangements PPM.*

Responsibilities

As a National Bank Examiner/Bank Examiner (Commercial Credit Lead Expert Support), you will:

  • Identify and address areas of significant credit related risk in Midsize Banks. Lend high level of expertise to the examination of the most complex credit matters within Midsize Bank Supervision (MBS).
  • Provide authoritative advice on credit matters to MBS management. Participate in macro studies of strengths and vulnerabilities of credit risk management systems and other credit practices. Identify emerging issues in credit risk throughout MBS.
  • Support the Lead Expert Quality Assurance efforts through participating in the review of supervisory products and strategies.
  • Provide leadership to examiners and be relied upon by examiners for advice on complex credit matters. Ensure that staff is informed of and understand new policy or program initiatives and changes to bank supervisory procedures and new regulations.
  • Attend meetings and conferences with bank executives and boards of directors to make presentations and negotiate sensitive and controversial issues. Provide training to all levels of the organization as well as to trade and banking groups. Confer regularly with experts in other fields to discuss and debate practices and issues.

Qualifications

You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the NB-V band level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. The experience may have been gained in either the public or private sector. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Examples of specialized experience for this position include:

  • Auditing or examining financial institution activities to identify commercial credit risk and provide advice to management on risk mitigation; OR
  • Providing advisory or consulting services on commercial credit bank activities to assess risks and adequacy of bank policies and procedures.
