Purpose of Job
The Senior Manager reports directly to the Director, Risk Model and Data Analytics, and is responsible for managing the delivery and support of technically complex solutions to meet the business needs for Global Risk Management and Regulatory/Compliance. The individual is required to manage a team of IT professionals, be responsible to provide business analysis and technology guidance to the team and to implement standards and best practices around the development of application services and common components. The Senior Manager will need to have strong capital market, risk management and technical background and project management skills, with the ability to manage a team of technology focused staff and manage multiple projects concurrently.
Key Job Accountabilities
Ability to resolve highly complex, multi-faceted problems to meet the business needs of Global Risk Management and GBM by applying financial and technological knowledge to perform highly complex analysis and provides recommendation to the design of methodologies, models, and/or systems solutions. This may involve rapid prototyping, with requirements and solutions, developed on an iterative basis that provides interim deliverables until a final production solution is created.
Manage multiple projects or lead specific areas of a larget, multi-disciplinary projects to implement solutions to business problems. This involves planning, securing, and scheduling resources, soliciting and defining business requirements and processes, preparing business case proposals, developing testing, conversion, and implementation strategies, developing detailed project plans, managing vendor relationship and deliverables, monitoring progress against planned objectives, reviewing financial, and securing consensus and co-operation from users and senior management.
Effectively manage, coach and supervise business analysis staff (including contractors) by setting clear objectivies and performance expectations, monitoring performance, providing performance feedback including the preparation of performance appraisals, and as needed, providing counsel and coaching. This also includes assisting in the recruitment of qualified business analysis staff.
Faciliates the optimization of business unit performance and culture changes.
Work with cross-departmental business & IT stakeholders, and provide business support to risk management and regulatory/compliance.
Skills, Experiences and Functional Competencies
Knowledge/experience in Capital Markets and advanced knowledge in financial instruments, ranging from derivative products to foreign exchange, including market conventions and valuation methods. Experience in market and credit risk management methodologies and models including best practices, performance measurement, knoweldge of current and anticipated regulatory requirement, and the end-to-end workflows among the Front, Middle, and Back Offices is desirable.
Results-oriented, and highly motivated individual with excellent analytical skills; capable of working in a fast pace, dynamic environment with aggressive timelines and multiple projects running in parallel.
A strong leader with excellent interpersonal, communication/presentation (both Oral and written), and negotiation skills that can build rapport with cross departmental business and IT stakeholders, and able to manage conflicts.
Experience with requirement gathering, design methdology and testing. Possess a very good understanding of current IT practices, systems development lifecycle and techniques, real-time analytical and formal modelling tools, and keep current with rapidly changing technology to effectively apply technology to the solution of a business problem. This knowledge must also be applied to assist the Director in establishing future technological directions for the area.
Agile and project management experience would be an asset
A recognized under-graduate degree in business administration, mathematics, computer science, or engineering related discipline, along with at least 8 to 10 years of relevant experience in developing and deploying complex technology solution and managing technology team is required. A CFA or FRM designation would be an asset.
