Wells Fargo Teradata Database Analyst 2 in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Assists in the planning, analysis, design, implementation, maintenance, and/or control of the organization's databases. Under regular supervision, performs basic server-class database activities including one or more of the following: routine troubleshooting, maintenance, and production support; basic database performance monitoring and tuning; data mapping; routine testing; and smaller back-up and recovery activities. May assist with or perform basic logical data modeling; database design; programming and coding, documentation of policy and procedures; simple database installations and migrations

Responsibilities include:

  • Partner with vendor and senior Teradata DBA staff to trouble shoot issues

  • Partner with vendor and senior Teradata DBA staff to provide regular maintenance to Teradata systems including but not limited to Operating system patching, database version patching.

  • Participate in projects to upgrade Teradata Database Environments to latest database release.

  • Work with senior Teradata staff members to ensure all Wells Fargo policies and procedures are followed to mitigate risk.

  • Participate in call rotation including off hours support.

  • Serve as first level Teradata DBA support to identify and remediate issues. Escalate as necessary to senior staff members.

  • Document Teradata database policies and procedures as required

Working hours can vary and this team member will be required to work off-shift hours to complete essential maintenance activities. These planned maintenance activities may be scheduled during the week or weekends. When off shift DBA support is required, the manager will work with the team member to adjust their normal working schedule to ensure a 40 hour work week. Team members, who are required to work off shift hours, will be eligible for shift differential pay for the off shift hours worked.

Required Qualifications:

  • 1+ year of database design and administration experience

  • 1+ year of UNIX experience

  • 1+ year of SQL experience

Desired Qualifications:

  • 1+ year of Teradata experience

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Ability to work effectively in virtual environment where key team members and partners are in various time zones and locations

  • Knowledge and understanding of data management and infrastructure production engineering leadership, this includes delivering reliable and responsive systems, and discipline to continually root out issues at the core

  • A BS/BA degree or higher in information technology

  • Flexibility to work different shifts

  • Flexibility to work in a 24/7 environment

  • Ability to work additional hours as needed

  • Ability to work on call as assigned
