Verizon Learning & Development Manager in Leesburg, Virginia

What you’ll be doing...

You will explore what our people need to learn to be even better. Your programs and learning approaches will align with our business needs and be highly effective and in tune with our culture. You’ll design learning solutions that are engaging, fun and most importantly build those capabilities needed to enable our people to create the Verizon of the future.

  • Collaborating with stakeholders to determine learning needs and the best delivery approach.

  • Creating innovative learning solutions for sales, products, customer service, and employee development.

  • Managing projects to create effective learning solutions on time and on budget.

  • Evaluating program effectiveness and continuously improving our solutions.

  • Providing regular updates to senior leadership on progress and results achieved.

Primarily responsibility is to build strong engaged and impactful learning programs at the National Conference Center. Daily tasks will be to interface with Verizon Learning & Development, our clients, our participants, and the National Conference Center (NCC) staff to deliver on designed programs. Manage all operational activities conducted on-site.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Conduct upfront needs and audience analyses.

  • Evaluate learning needs of our clients and plan learning programs accordingly.

  • Develop, implement, and monitor learning programs.

  • Build learning to increase engagement and retention. Reduce lecture and infuse more hands-on

  • Develop synchronous and asynchronous video delivered learning.

  • Conduct orientation sessions.

  • Create testing and evaluation processes.

  • Provide performance feedback (in class and in field).

  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to provide materials and support.

  • Manage staff of classroom facilitators.

  • Supervise technical learning for staff.

  • Provide leadership development education.

  • Provide logistical support, course development, delivery, evaluation, process measurements, and cost management. Prepare and implement site budget.

  • Plan the implementation and facilitation of activities and events, material production and distribution, and other resources to ensure that operations.

  • Develop strategic plans.

  • Build solid cross-functional relationships.

Requires minimal, if any, management direction and/or supervision, instead leads all milestone SME and manager reviews. Set schedules, manages internal/external development resources, and communicates progress/issues. Receives broad guidance and is accountable for entire safety area and overall program results.

Uses expertise to directly influence others inside and outside department and function.

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or six or more years of work experience.

  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

  • Experience designing custom learning programs using alternative delivery methods.

Even better if you have:

  • Consulted with HR professionals and their business clients.

  • Knowledge of adult learning principles and training approaches.

  • Managed projects effectively balancing timeliness and quality in a fast-paced environment.
