We are recruiting a Clinical Specialist for our DePuy Synthes business covering the Manchester region.

Role Purpose:

You will provide in theatre case support across the region as directed by the Sales Specialist and/or Regional Sales Manager; thereby providing accurate information regarding all products and their indications (i.e. surgical techniques) to Health Care Professionals – Consultants, surgical trainees and Nursing staff. You will provide a first class service and seamless support to customers including training, stock checks and timely deliveries to ensure the operation proceeds successfully.

Key areas of responsibility:

Theatre Support

  • Assist in the promotion and safe and effective use of products through regular theatre attendance, customer education meetings and training sessions

  • Partner with Sales Specialists to identify business opportunities across the portfolio in key focus accounts. Assist in the successful conversion of such opportunities

  • Protect and grow the business as defined by the business strategy

  • Proactively build and develop relationships with Clinical stakeholders

  • Develop a portfolio of Key Opinion Leaders across the product portfolio

Professional Education

  • Provide necessary support at events as required

  • Partner with the Professional Education Manager to develop and maintain associated KOL relationships as well as championing the effective use of the Company’s comprehensive Professional Education offering

Clinical Expertise

  • Understand technical information pertinent to the procedure and product platform

  • Maintain up-to-date market and industry knowledge


  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver business plan

  • Collaborate with other clinical specialists and commercial teams to deliver co-ordinated approach where applicable

  • Respond to requests for support from other customer facing colleagues and proactively share information and insights where customer may be shared across regions

  • Contribute and collaborate with colleagues in regional team to work collaboratively towards regional business planning goals

  • Timely completion of business reporting and administration as required


Skills and competencies required:

  • Excellent communication skills –written, spoken and presentation ability

  • Strong commercial acumen

  • Ability to build trust with customers by asking probing questions that helps the customer achieve their objectives, acting in a consultative manner

  • Maintain deep clinical expertise in procedure and product knowledge

  • Information Technology skills

Education & Experience Required:

  • Nursing Qualification/Experience (desirable)

  • Degree (desirable, not essential)

  • Experience of working in the theatre environment

  • Understanding of the secondary care environment

  • ABPI (where appropriate)
