The Corporate Credit & Market Risk group is responsible for independently overseeing the management of credit risk exposures (including monitoring and reporting on aggregate credit exposures across groups, legal entities, geographies, and jurisdictions) and the quality of credit risk management practices across the company. This oversight extends to all phases of a loan’s life cycle, including origination, underwriting, risk analysis, approval, documentation, boarding, monitoring, loss recognition, modification, and collection activities. Corporate Credit & Market Risk is responsible for delegating and/or removing credit and investment approval authorities to the lines of business.

More specifically, Corporate Credit & Market Risk develops, maintains and ensures adherence to enterprise-wide credit risk frameworks, policies, and procedures that are aligned with Board-approved risk appetite.

The Enterprise Counterparty Risk Management (ECRM) organization within Corporate Credit & Market Risk is responsible for ensuring an appropriate Risk Management framework exists for products offered by the primary trading and lending desks, with particular emphasis on Counterparty Credit Risk. A Risk Management framework includes the identification, measurement, approval, pricing, aggregation and reporting of counterparty credit risk.

The ECRM Oversight team is seeking a self-starter with strong capital markets knowledge for a Market Risk Consultant opportunity. This position is responsible for independently overseeing the management of counterparty risk (inclusive of price risk) exposures (including monitoring and reporting on aggregate market and counterparty risk exposures across groups, legal entities, geographies, and jurisdictions) and the quality of market risk management practices across the company.

The ECRM Oversight team is actively expanding its counterparty credit oversight function in order to meet heightened regulatory standards. The team is responsible for the following activities:

  • Independent monitoring and reporting of risk trends

  • Ensuring consistent credit risk underwriting standards across the organization

  • Establishment and monitoring of corporate level risk appetite metrics

  • Ensuring line of business compliance with corporate and child level policies

  • Approval of all transactions which are exceptions to policy

  • Identification, measurement and reporting of directional risk

  • Special projects to address Internal/External Audit and/or Regulatory Issues

The successful candidate will be familiar with derivatives (interest, credit, equity, commodity and FX), securities financing transactions (repos/reverse, stock loan/borrow) and securities trading. The individual should have a high level understanding of the risks associated with these products. A familiarity with the operating model of banks, non-bank financial institutions, and alternative investment vehicles would be helpful.

The primary responsibilities of this position will be to provide risk oversight over all lines of business within the Wholesale Bank that carry counterparty exposure, ensure that LOB policies remain in compliance with corporate level policies and procedures, monitor, review and ensure all transactions with exceptions are approved by risk oversight, and ensure consistent underwriting standards across LOBs.

Required Qualifications:

  • 1+ year of capital markets experience, desk analyst experience, or a combination of both

  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • 3+ years of banking industry experience

  • Credit risk experience
