J&J Family of Companies Head Innate Immunity in Beerse, Belgium

Reporting to the Global Head, Janssen Immunosciences, this individual will establish and lead a new function within our Beerse, Belgium campus focused on the role of chronic inflammation in disease to accelerate progress towards our ultimate aim of disease prevention, interception and cure.

This individual will develop novel strategies and approaches to targeting key innate immune pathways that contribute to the pathogenesis or perpetuation of diseases of immune dysfunction; including but not restricted to autoimmune diseases and cancer.

While building an internal team focused on driving scientific and technological innovation that adds to the field, this individual will be expected to identify and interface with academic and industry partners to discover novel biology and advance projects relevant to the field.

The successful candidate will also be expected partner closely with Therapeutic area teams and Drug Discovery enabling functions to develop innovative screening approaches to identify and optimize therapeutic drug candidates.


The successful candidate will have a PhD in Pharmacology or Immunology with a minimum of 10 years experience in the field of Immunology. Understanding key pathways and mechanisms within inflammatory and tissue resident cells that may underlie disease processes is key. The successful candidate will have previous line management experience and will have a proven track record of success in the Immunology field through extensive publications and external presentations.

Previous Industry experience and knowledge of Drug Discovery is advantageous but not required. Strong communications skills are essential as is a proven ability to work in a matrix environment while establishing and maintaining both internal and external collaborations.
