Job Summary:

Within our Advisory Service Delivery Center, the FSO’s Software Application Development offering provides core technology transformation and technology strategy enablement focusing on digital, robotics, Internet of Things, cybersecurity and blockchain. The team includes individuals who have deep industry, product and client knowledge. We are currently looking for an Associate Analyst to join this fast-paced and growing team.

Within software application development, we enable businesses by focusing on technology transformation and delivery. Working collaboratively with our clients, this team:

  • Delivers technology transformations in the way clients process and deliver their services within the organization and to consumers

  • Provides hands-on development of applications across the enterprise through digital and portals, user interface and design, core processing, data analytics and storage

  • Participates across all phases of the software development life cycle in an Agile/Scrum development environment, which supports incremental development of high-quality, fully tested application component delivery

  • Works with business organizations to solve their most complex technology issues

  • Develops client relationships across multiple levels

Within this team, you could be working in the following three areas:

  • Integration

  • Develop Java applications that are aligned with the overall architectural approach and platform being used by the team(s)

  • Design and develop user interfaces to multiple internal and external applications by setting expectations and featuring priorities throughout the development life cycle, completing programming through the use of languages and software products, and designing and conducting tests

  • Assist development and test teams in activities with acceptance testing, load testing, troubleshooting and performance tuning as required

  • Develop integration requirements and design aligned to technology architecture

  • Ensure all integration development aligns with the integration team’s standards and leading practices

  • Assist in the creation of logic and physical specification

  • Configuration

  • Apply system analysis techniques and procedures, including meeting with various resources to qualify required information, as well as analyzing and interpreting requirements

  • Develop multi-tier applications for internal and external end users using AngularJS, jQuery, HTML5, Java and SQL to meet design specifications

  • Monitor and optimize code for performance

  • Maintain code quality through unit testing

  • Participate in the design, development, documentation, analysis, creation or modification of computer systems

  • Data

  • Integrate applications by designing database architecture and server scripting; study and establish connectivity with network systems and information servers

  • Collaborate with team members to develop conceptual, logical and physical data models

  • Manage data and understand data structures

  • Work with metadata processes, data lineage, and traceability repositories and technologies

  • Focus on implementation, including upgrades, mobility, integration and requirements definitions

The Service Delivery Center is made up of high-performing, US-based resources who work closely with our experienced Advisory professionals to deliver project-based work and managed services to our US-based financial services clients. Key Responsibilities:

  • Build scalable, distributed, multi-threaded Java applications and tools using various technologies

  • Collaborate with peer groups for architecture and delivery discussions and decisions

  • Work with build teams to enhance continuous integration techniques, including build automation, test automation and deployment

  • Participate in design, development and code reviews

  • Develop requirements specifications and design documents

  • Conduct unit tests and undertake analysis of results to verify that developed code meets requirements

  • Report directly to the Senior Architect or Manager as appropriate

  • Responsible for delivery of business cases, use cases, code and unit tests

  • Work closely with offshore teams (as needed) to deliver projects according to time, cost and quality requirements

  • Adopt a logical and organized approach to problem resolution

To qualify, candidates must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Technology

  • A minimum of one year of work experience in a related field

  • Desire to work in a computer-related career where >80% of time is spent working on system-related activity, including software configuration, development, workflow design, process design, analysis and quality assurance

  • Strong academic record, including, without limitation, course work that EY deems relevant to this position

  • Flexibility to work on ad hoc tasks depending on requirements

  • Proficiency in Java with a good knowledge of its ecosystems

  • Solid understanding of object-oriented programming

  • Skill for writing reusable Java libraries

  • Skill in SQL

  • Familiarity with concepts of MVC, JDBC and RESTful

  • Familiarity with Java GUI frameworks such as Swing

  • Familiarity with AngularJS, jQuery and HTML5

  • Ability to write clean, readable Java code

  • Familiarity with both external and embedded databases

  • Basic understanding of the class-loading mechanism in Java

  • Knowledge of creating database schemas that represent and support business processes

  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficiency in the English language, including the ability to listen, understand, read and communicate effectively both in writing and verbally in a professional environment

  • Proficiency with MS Office, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint

  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
